Terracota tiles date back about a thousand years and can be
produced either manually or mechanically. The quality, color, and
baking process of the clay make this tile one of the most frequently
used for flooring.
The clay tiles are laid over a levelled and dried base. The tiles
are placed 5mm apart adjusted using a rubber mallet, which is covered
in tape to avoid damaging the surface of the tiles. They are then
cemented into place and mortar is used as a sealant.
The joining of the tiles is done with cement and marble stones,
taking care to remove any excess residue to avoid leaving stains
or blotches.

Terracota
is quite a porous material which requires treatment to ensure its
durability.
To achieve a darker tone, vegetable oils are added producing a colour
similar to that of aged leather or warmer tones like that of antique
paving stones, giving a rustic impression. We can also provide a
neutral finish, respecting the nature of the material, in matte,
bright, or gloss.
